Allison Nazarian Bio
Hi, I’m Allison and this is my story:
I am a writer. (Sounds simple, but it took me years to be able to say that and just that.)
I use words to help people like you make money, make sense and make things happen.
I have been in business for myself (and my clients) since 2001, and as a professional writer since 1993. That’s a pretty long time.
I work as a ghostwriter, a copywriter and a consultant to businesses and organizations of all sizes.
I am a Mom, a sister, a great guy’s girlfriend, a best friend, a daughter, a neighbor and, I hope, a kind human.
More about what I do: Sometimes, people hire me to write marketing copy and to ghostwrite their books, scripts, blogs and speeches. The rest of the time, I write under my own name for women, moms, entrepreneurs and real people. I am the author of “Love Your Mess™,” a book that reminds us that our messes are lovely and inevitable and worthwhile. I also teach writing to groups and individuals, and have developed numerous programs and courses including “Write Your Mess™,” a program to guide others to use writing as a way to make money, find their voice, figure stuff out or even just vent.
I am currently developing a book proposal for a book about my experiences growing up as the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. I figured I would test out the old Time + Tragedy = Humor equation for myself.
This is the part where I tell you I am highly educated: I hold a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. I have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, INC, Entrepreneur, Fortune Small Business and elsewhere. I also wrote two books on do-it-yourself copywriting, including One Minute Copywriter.
Beyond the work stuff and the schooling and all that impressive experience; Originally from the Washington, D.C. area (Potomac, Maryland if you like to know that kind of stuff), I am also a sometimes-speed-walker, always- speed-reader, introvert (INFJ), Words With Friends player, Howard Stern superfan, Counting Crows devotee, two-time tattoo recipient, devoted NFL fan (Washington Redskins, sigh) and someday-bookstore owner. I am gluten-free, sugar-free, obsessed with de-cluttering and always in search of a hobby that doesn’t include reading, writing or watching documentaries alone in a dark house. I live in Florida with my two teenagers (oy), a Black Lab and enough dog hair to create a second dog.
P.S. You read all the way to here, wow! Thank you! If you were wondering about the photo on this page, yep, that’s me. I was 4- or 5-years-old and engaging in a habit that took me nearly four decades to break.
P.P.S. Let’s talk: Connect with me here to discuss writing, speaking, teaching — whatever!
